Privacy
Food Karate uses the camera so you can chop flying food with your hand. Nothing the camera sees is recorded or sent anywhere. This page covers what the game does with the camera, and the little it keeps.
- Nothing recordedNo video and no photos, ever.
- Stays on this deviceThe camera is read right here in the browser and never uploaded.
- No accountsNothing to sign up for, and no names or email addresses.
- No trackingNo ads, no analytics and no tracking cookies.
The camera
When you press Turn on the camera, your browser asks to use the camera. Each picture from the camera is read right here on your device to find each player's hands. Normally that means a handful of points on each body, like the shoulders, elbows, wrists and knuckles. If you switch the tracking to Hands up close, it means 21 points on each hand instead. Those points are held in memory only while you play, and only for a moment.
The camera picture is never recorded, saved, uploaded, or sent to us, to Google or to anyone else. There's no face recognition: the game can't tell who anyone is, only where their hands are and how fast they're moving. When you close the page, the picture and everything the game worked out from it are gone.
The tracking is MediaPipe, software made by Google that runs inside your browser. When the camera turns on, the browser downloads it from Google and from jsDelivr, a service that hosts free software, the same way it loads any web page. Nothing from your camera goes along with those downloads.
While the camera is on, your browser shows a camera light or icon. Closing the page turns the camera off.
Saved in your browser
The game keeps its settings and your best scores in this browser's local storage so they're there next time: the number of players, which hands hold swords, the blade length, how bright the camera picture is, mirroring, sound, and the best score in each game. None of it leaves your device. To clear it, clear this site's data in your browser's settings.
Fonts
The lettering comes from Google Fonts, which sees your internet address when it sends the font files.
Kids
Food Karate is fine for kids, ideally with a grown-up nearby and some room to swing an arm. There are no accounts, no ads, no chat and nothing to type, and we don't collect personal information from anyone, kids included.
